  	TAWAS MAN MEETS DEATH; PACIFIC AREA __________________ Stanley Daley Dies While In the Performance of Duty ___________________________     Stanley A. Daley, chief yeoman in theUnited States Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Daley, waskilled while in the performance of his duty on August 19,in the Pacific Area, according to a telegram received fromthe Navy Department Tuesday. He had been stationed in theNew Hebrides.     The tesegram was follows: "The NavyDepartment deeply regrets to inform you of the death ofyour son, Stanley Arthur Daley, chief yeoman, U. S. N. R.,on August 19, 1944, as a result of a fracture of thecervical vertebra, while in the performance of his duty andin the service of his country. No information available atpresent in regard to disposition of remains, but reason ofexisting conditions, burial at sea or in locality of deathhighly probable. When further details are received theywill be forwarded to you promptly."     Stanley Arthur Daley was born September2, 1909, at Hale, and was a graduate from the Tawas CityPublic Schools and the Iosco County Normal. For a number ofyears he taught in the various schools of the county andhad been a clerk in the Peoples State Bank at East Tawas.Previous to entering the Navy in November of 1942 he hadbeen a Letter carrier in the United States Mail Service atDearborn.     Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs.James Daley; five sisters, Mrs. Leo Schmidt of Perry; Mrs.J. E. LaBerge of East Tawas, Mrs. Fritz Greve of Detroit,Mrs. Elmer Anschuetz of Sand Lake and Mrs. Frank Nelkie,Jr., of East Tawas, and four brothers, Oren Daley of Flint,Harvey Daley and Elwood Daley of Detroit and LawrenceDaley, now in the service at Great Lakes.
