    • MULLEN, Mrs. Martha Ella

      Passed away Sunday, August 11, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. O. M. Peterson, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Mullen was born Dec 4, 1860 in Shelby County, Ohio, only daughter of William and Mary Strong. Eight brothers have preceded her in death. At an eartly age the family moved to St. Joseph County, Michigan, where she spent most of her life. On January 1, 1879 she was married to Herman C. Mullen in Mendon, Michigan. Following his death in 1923, Mrs. Mullen lived in Colon for several years before moving to Kalamazoo to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Lockwood at 2629 Parkview Avenue, until the latters death in 1951. Since that time she has made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Lucille Peterson,   Surviving are: 3 sons, Harvey and Earnest of Colon, Michigan, and William Mullen of Sturgis, Michigan; Also 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and   15 great-greatgrandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Lettie Foster of Colon and one son, Clyde Mullen of Kalamazoo have also preceded her in death. Friends may call at  the Cady Funeral Home, where services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Dr. T. Thomas Wylie officiating. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Colon, Michigan.
