  Notes	papers written by ANNA HALLADAY ANDERSON, written in her 80's (very clear mind). And I quote: ". . . . . . Horace Halladay was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, on October 12, 1797, came to Ohio with his father and mother family in 1816.    In the summer of 1821 Horace went back to Massachusetts and went to school there at the Academy, 3 years in the fall and winter terms. He worked one summer for a Mr. Gore who at one time was Govenor of Massachusetts and said to be the richest man in the State at that time.    Horace taught school one or two winters in Massachusetts and one in Vermont. When he went east he went from Sandusky to Buffalo in a little schooner that was of 13 tons measurement, a little larger than an ordinary pound fishing boat, only it had a deck and a cabin.    It carried a cargo of potash and hides. He said they had plenty of perfumery. He was there about six years.    Returning to Ohio, he went in partnership with his brother Able, farming, and the manufacturing of perlash and potash.    He was married to Pheobe Carpenter of New London Township, August 19, 1829. They moved to Huron, Erie County in the Autumn of 1834, settled on the farms now owned by Henry Merthe. His Father and Mother came with them. He built a log house and barn and dug a well, getting the stone for it at East Norwalk. He sold that farm to Samuel P. McDonald in 1835 and bought what was then known as the Sturgis farm on the Sand Street road. He finished the barn, which was partly enclosed, he then bought 124 acres adjoining it on the east.. . . .."    So ends what Clark Halladay wrote......"...Anna H. Anderson cir 1950
