She was preceded in death by her husband Ned, who lovingly cared for her for many years; and, her parents Sherman and Goldie Cassiday of Piqua. She is survived by her sister Onda Pennington and her husband Tom of Louisville, Kentucky; son David Kearns and daughter in-law Connie of Oakwood; son Michael Kearns and daughter in-law Kris of Yellow Springs; grandchildren Erin, Elizabeth, Matthew, Lindsay, Kaitlin and Alexandra; and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Piqua, OH. Eleanor retired from the Civil Service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Loving mother, and grandmother, she traveled extensively with her husband and had many camping friends in Florida, with the Cardinal Winnies of Ohio and at Camp Kirkmont. She was an active member of Faith United Presbyterian Church where she previously served as an elder, choir member and with the Womens Circle. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to those who cared for and visited with her during her illness; especially Kurt and Cindy, Chuck and Jan, members of Faith United Presbyterian Church, Sunrise of Oakwood and Acclaim Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday January 17, 2009 at Faith Presbyterian Church , 5555 Chambersburg Rd., Huber Heights Ohio 45424. Family will receive friends 10:00-11:00AM prior to services at church. Family will have a gathering following services until 1:00PM and then have burial at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua.
