His sister, who was christened Deborah Ann and called Debbie Ann by Aunt Jane and Aunt Debbie by us youngsters, lived in David's and Jane's home many years and so far as I know they never disagreed. Like David, she was tall and quick-spoken and we children stood quite in awe of her. "There is room for only two here," she would say and shoo us out of the kitchen. We children used to look longingly at the long banister in the hall and wish we could slide down it but Phoebe was the only one to accomplish this feat.
Aunt Jane was small with brown eyes and dark, curly hair and quite a favorite aunt. Once I took her some hollyhocks. She was very pleased and said, "David used to call me his hollyhock." She must have been a pretty girl and was a kind, sweet woman always."
