Age 75 Of Parchment Passed away on August 13, 2011 at his home. Edward was born on November 11, 1935 in Kalamazoo the son of Herman and Helen (Taylor) Kersten. Edward was a Veteran having served in the US Army. He worked for Clausing Industrial, Inc. (formerly the Atlas Press Company) retiring after 36 years of service. Edward was a member of the V.F. W. Post 5855, the Moose Lodge #88 and the Eagles. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and loved to sing. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: William and John Kersten. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Shirley (Sanders) Kersten; children: Michael (Dawn) Kersten of Kalamazoo; Brenda (Scott) Savage of Hastings; Richard (Amy) Card of Delton; Terry (Maxine) Card of Marshall and Debra (Robert) Houston of Chester, NJ; ten grandchildren: Melissa Savage; Steven Savage; Bryan Card; Darin Card; Andrea Card; Tyler Card; Courtney Kersten; Lauren Kersten; Jenna Houston and Jeffrey Houston; four great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Jo (Bill) Bos of Alaska and Linda (Leo) Craft of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 from 6-8 PM at PARCHMENT-REDMOND Funeral Home 2300 East G. Ave. 349-7735 Where a Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at 2:00 PM in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Published in Kalamazoo Gazette on August 15, 2011
