Merritt R. Sherman, 82, retired painter at the Dahlstrom Metallic Door Company, died at his home., 39 Center Street, Fredonia, at 6 a.m. today. Mr. Sherman was born Sept. 13, 1868 in the Town of Ellery. The son of William T. and Hannah Parker Sherman, he spent the early years of his life as a farmer, coming to Jamestown about 30 years ago. He retired about three years ago. He is survived by his wife, Anna Taber Sherman; a son, Gerald Sherman of Fredonia; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Risley of Jamestown and Mrs. Blair Link of Buffalo; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Boyd Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
