  • Notes
    • July 1798 she applied as Polly Hewitt, for 200 acres of land as d/o Darius Crippen UE, Petition granted same month. Polly & Noah and the Halls built a cobblestone house near Childs which is still standing, one of the finest homes at the time. They raised carrots & apples which they sent to market.

In History of Gains Twp, Oleans Co.,NY states Noah Burgess & family & Darius & Samuel Crippen were the 1st settlers there in 1807-8. He ran the Inn at Fairhaven, now called Childs - an old landmark. When the family arrived Noah was sick and his wife cut the trees for logs. 1806 - Living next to the Darius Crippens Sr & Jr.
